Stratford Police Capt. Frank Eannotti said one person was killed in the crash that occurred at 12:18 a.m., Friday.
An initial investigation indicates that the vehicle, which was driving westbound on Lordship Boulevard, failed to negotiate a slight curve in the roadway, drove off the road and struck a tree near the intersection, Eannotti said.
The roadway and intersection were closed during the on-scene investigation.
“At this time the incident is still under investigation and there are no further details to release,” Eannotti said.
Eannotti said the department is waiting for notification of next of kin because releasing the person's name.
